Episode 3 Summary
- For thousands of years, humans have wrestled with the tension between human will and God’s will.
- It’s not very common that God just hands people their purpose, so we need to understand what God has already said he desires in the Bible, and do our best to live in those ways.
- We need to trust God with the unknown future and do our best to live in a way that honors the words we do know come from God: the Bible.
Is it comforting or scary that we can’t know the future but God does? Do you think God’s sovereignty is an excuse for inaction on our parts?
Have you ever had a moment in your life where you saw the sovereignty and faithfulness of God? What did that look like?
What do you think it looks like to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly, as the prophet Micah encourages? Is there anyone in your life that you feel like does those three things well?
Luke chapters 4 & 5
This will be a longer assignment, but read Luke 4 & 5. In these two chapters, we get the context of the verses we heard from James. Spend some time processing and praying for the Holy Spirit to reveal the intention and truth of the words of James. There are some hard truths in these two chapters, truths about wealth and generosity and peace, so, if you can, reach out to someone you trust and talk to them about the chapters!
