Episode 1 Summary
- Humanity has questioned the purpose of life for its entire existence.
- Many of our popular answers, like “finding true love” or success, often feel hollow when we encounter life’s harsher realities.
- Sometimes, life can feel unfair, and we will encounter suffering. Life in God’s wisdom can help us step into that suffering and identify our purposes in the hardships of life.
Is there something you want to achieve in your life? If your answer resembles those “love” or “success” answers, that’s not bad! Those are good things!
What do you do when things don’t go your way? What is a way to respond well? What is a way to respond maybe not as well?
What do you think about the conclusion of Ecclesiastes (found at 12:13-14)? What do you think it looks like to “fear God and keep his commandments”?
Read John 16. Spend some time praying through and meditating on the words of this chapter, then read it a second time. As we process through our purpose and God’s purposes, this should be section of scripture we return to. Jesus lays many truths out for his followers in this chapter: truths about purpose and hardship and meaning. But most importantly, he reminds us that he holds all of it and that we can trust him.
