- What we see in porn is often counterfeit: counterfeit relationship, counterfeit intimacy, and counterfeit connection.
- These counterfeits can be destructive in their nature, from eroticizing sexual abuse to intimacy without connection.
- When we really examine the counterfeits, we start to see their cracks and flaws. Porn doesn’t require much from us, but it also doesn’t grow us or mold us like real relationship, intimacy, and connection.

Diving Deeper
Luke 4:1-14
Read Luke 4:1-14. We serve a God who is “able to sympathize with our weakness” (Hebrews 4:15). In this story, Jesus is offered a multitude of counterfeits: counterfeit sustenance, counterfeit power, and counterfeit safety. Yet he doesn’t take any of them, choosing to stand strong in his weakened state, standing on the true, authentic word of God. Spend some time reflecting on a counterfeit you may have accepted, instead of the real thing.
