Read Colossians 4:6. Although Urban Dictionary defines “salty” as being “upset, angry, or bitter,” Paul was promoting the exact opposite kind of conversation. Back then, salt kept food from spoiling. The Expositor’s Greek also says salt “expressed the wit with which con- versation was flavoured.” But does wit only involve being funny? How might it help us re- spond differently to different people? How do these ideas balance against Luke 12:11-12?
