We tried to be very careful not to make it sound like all issues with anxiety or depression were always spiritual, but that some could be. Why is this balance so important?

Ephesians 4:27 says, “do not give the devil a foothold.” So our first question is, what is a foothold? As Karl Payne writes, “When we fail to keep short accounts with sin, we provide footholds or handholds that allow Satan to take advantage of us.” So then what does it mean to keep short accounts? It means to confess sin quickly. Again from Dr. Payne, when we do, “Satan doesn’t have the time or opportunity to chip holes in our lives or body armor.”
