The Gratitude Experience

An Axis Course On Advent and Your Family

Welcome to the weekend!

We want to start out today by reminding and encouraging you that every Saturday is an opportunity to step into Sabbath. It takes discipline and practice to create a new rhythm of life. Let this week’s “Gratitude Experience” be another opportunity to slow down and enjoy God, His creation, and the people around you. As you slow down, focus on remembering that seeking closeness with God is how we find true, complete joy and abundant life.

Part of that involves fighting against consumerism and envy, which begins with gratitude. Gratitude is the gateway to contentment, which leads us to the true abundant life into which Jesus invites us.

So here’s the checklist for today’s experience!

  1. Gather all the ingredients for everyone’s favorite dessert.
  2. Spend time as a family making the desserts.
  3. As you sit down to enjoy them, pray and ask God to reveal all the ways he has blessed your family. Spend time thanking God for every good thing you can think of together, no matter how big or small.
  4. Make sure you’ve made enough to give away to others. Decide who you want to give your desserts to, and plan out your deliveries. Make them tonight if possible.

We hope, through this gratitude experience, your family is able to grow in the joy that God wants for us as his children. We leave you with Psalm 118:1: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
