Episode 3 Summary
- A scarcity mindset is a subtle, common thing people wrestle with. The sad part of this mindset is that it can often disconnect us from generosity.
- Generosity is a requirement for Christians, but the reason we are generous is because God was first generous to us.
- Generosity is a big aspect of the Gospel, and informs the way we think about our money, time, and our response to those in need.
Who’s a person you would describe as generous? What do you think inspires their generosity?
Does it surprise you when God says he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their selfishness? What does this communicate to you about the heart of God? It’s okay to have uncomfortable answers.
Does generosity stop at just money? What are some ways you can become more generous? Even if you’re already a generous person!
Read the story of the Widow’s Offering in Mark 12:41-44. You can also read the preceding verses to get a sense of the context of the story. Spend some time thinking through how this story should influence the ways we think about generosity. Something to ask yourself: is Jesus praising the widow or critiquing the rich people? Is it a little of both? Neither?
