Teen Coaching Frequently Asked Questions

What is teen coaching?
Axis’ teen coaching sessions provide space and time for your teen to ask hard questions about a variety of issues. Two Axis speakers give a 30 minute presentation that includes media clips, discussion and reflection questions, and practical takeaways (we’ve talked about everything from Anxiety and depression to screen time and social media), and then spend the last few minutes of the Zoom meeting answering questions and interacting with the students. The goal is to get you and your teen talking, so we always send a follow up email with discussion questions so you can have a conversation about what they heard, what they agreed and disagreed with, and any questions they might still have.

How long are the sessions?
45 minutes.

How often does teen coaching happen?
Once a month.

What does my teen need to join the session?
A computer (or any device that can join a Zoom call).

Should parents join the teen coaching session?
No need for you to join! We always give you an overview of what we’ll talk about and send a follow up recording of the session the day after teen coaching so that you stay in the loop.

What else should I be aware of?
Your teen doesn’t need to turn their video on; we interact with them via the chat feature on Zoom.
